Sales Associate - Madera / Bakersfield

Westside Equipment Co. is growing and is looking to add a Salesperson to its team.

 

This position will be responsible for selling parts and equipment for pistachio harvesters and other agricultural equipment and machinery parts to clients in an outside sales and service capacity within the designated regional areas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



1)    Responsibilities for pistachio harvester parts and equipment sales and customer service.

  • Ascertains make, year, or type of part needed, inspects worn, damaged, or defective part to determine replacement required, or advises customer of part needed according to description of malfunction.

  • Discusses the use and features of various parts.

  • Creates and establishes sales targets and potential customers.

  • Reads catalog or computer for replacement part stock number and price.

  • Prepares sales slip or sales contract with use of computer program; properly bills customer according to credit policy and applicable financial system.

  • Advises customer on substitution or modification of part when replacement is not available.

  • Monitors customer orders to see if shipped correctly and accurately.

  • Assures stocking levels are sufficient to fill customer demands; maximizes turnover.

  • Assures all parts sales documents are completed accurately, according to Company policy, in full compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, and submitted to the accounting office on a timely basis.

  • Provides assistance and support as needed.

  • Assists in creating and implementing sales and marketing plans.

  • Assists in the areas of the rental equipment collections of accounts receivable as needed.

  • Attends and participates in meetings and committees as appropriate.

  • Ensures that the work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.

  • Completes special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required in a timely manner. 

  • Company assets are safeguarded and preserved.

 

2)    Maintains – Standards and expectations of job duties and performance, including policies and procedures.

  • Assumes responsibility for maintaining effective communication and coordination with company personnel and management.

  • Keeps President and management appropriately informed of area activities and of any significant problems.

  • Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective, positive working business relations with customers, suppliers, vendors, and other outside organizations in a fair and ethical manner.

  • Develops and maintains relationships and alliances with other departments, industry associations, suppliers, and vendors that promote the goodwill of the company and serve its best interests.

  • Participates in training and safety programs as directed and meets WSE standards and procedures.

  • Maintains constant care in the use of all WSE equipment and reports all defects as they are found.

  • Maintains consistent observance and compliance with all WSE rules and regulations and contractual requirements.

  • Applies continuous awareness and concern for product quality and work productivity.

  • Sales and performance goals and objectives are met effectively and timely.

  • Effectively manages accounts while ensuring optimal performance and standards of conduct.

  • Displays and promotes the Company’s standards for integrity, ethics, job performance, and conduct.

  • Creates a motivating work environment that promotes teamwork and cooperation.

  • Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.

 

3)     Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 

Three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.                         

 

Required Knowledge & Computer Skills

Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems. Familiarity with related laws and regulations. Working knowledge of MS Office applications. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.

 

Certification, Licenses, Registrations

Valid California Driver’s License

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Extended periods of computer usage. Driving in various weather conditions and long or short, frequent distances. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
